This is the heart-warming moment a local politician discovered he had become a grandad - while on a Zoom council meeting. John Cottee, 66, was chairing an online session with Nottinghamshire county councillors when he got the joyous news.
He could be seen pumping his fists as though he had scored a winning goal when he received a text from daughter Nicola. His fellow councillors appeared bemused as they watched usually-serious John understandably lose his cool.
He eventually told them: “I do apologise, I’m a bit excited. I’ve just become a grandad for the first time.” The other councillors began beaming with delight and congratulated “gobsmacked” John, from Keyworth, Notts.
