Samantha Smith suffers from Ehlers Danlos syndrome (EDS), a condition that weakens the body's connective tissues in the skin, tendons, ligaments, blood vessels, internal organs and bones.The rare condition affects around one in 5,000 people in the UK.Samantha has been shielding with her two children and carer for the past four-and-a-months, because she is considered “extremely vulnerable” to the Covid-19 virus.The mum-of-two is recovering from four neurosurgeries that she underwent in the United States.Between 2017 and 2019, the ‘Save Samantha’ crowdfunding campaign raised almost £500,000 for the lifesaving surgeries to stop her skull from crushing her spine.
