Peacock Aims to Offer Morning-News Bundle of ‘Morning Joe,’ ‘Squawk Box,’ ‘Today’ and Others

After tapping Comscore, iSpot.TV and VideoAmp last year to help build a new suite of technologies that will help count viewers across linear, digital and connected television, the big entertainment company is paring down its provider list. Comscore and VideoAmp will serve as partners during Warner Bros. During the Feb. 13-19 viewing window, the thriller picked up 1.47 billion minutes viewed following its Feb. 9 release. That’s a slight fall from the previous week’s opening at 1.73 billion minutes viewed, but remains a solid performance. Part 2 of Season 4 was released on March 9, so it’s expected that the show will continue to stay among the top 10 titles for some time. Following closely behind is “New Amsterdam” with 1.05 billion minutes viewed. Netflix and Peacock both share the title’s catalog. Netflix added two seasons of the series in January. Previously, the show was only available for streaming on Peacock.

After 35 days of viewing across linear and digital platforms, Season 27’s opening episode showed a 268% increase among adults 18-49 over its initial Live+Same Day rating of 0.65 rating, marking the show’s biggest-ever delayed-viewing increase. The season premiere also managed to rake in an additional 3.6 million total viewers after 35 days of multiplatform viewing taking the original number from 3.0 million to 6.6 million.

Discovery announced on Tuesday that the first season of the nine-episode apocalyptic-drama has smashed HBO’s SVOD European viewer ratings. This result comes after the season one finale set another ratings high in the U.S. on Sunday night, delivering 8.2 million viewers across HBO Max and linear telecasts, based on Nielsen and first party data. The series, which is based on the critically acclaimed video game of the same name developed by Naughty Dog for the PlayStation, has been a hit from the get go. “The Last of Us” is now averaging 30.4 million viewers in the U.S. across its first six episodes, according to HBO, with the first episode approaching 40 million viewers in the U.S. Outside of the U.S.. The show is now also the most-watched show ever on HBO Max in Latin America.

During the Feb. 6-12 viewing window, the series managed 1.73 billion minutes viewed in its first four days of availability. The second half of Season 4 was released on March 9. According to Nielsen’s break down, the psychological thriller series attracted an audience very similar to “Friends” on HBO Max with 42% of viewers aged 18-34 and 65% of viewers female. “New Amsterdam” ranked second on the list with 1.5 billion viewing minutes — that’s up 17% from the previous week and attracted an even more female-skewing audience (68%) than “You.” This marks the second consecutive week that the title has brought in over a billion minutes. Netflix added two seasons of the series in January. Before, “New Amsterdam” was originally only available for streaming on Peacock.

CW Taps iSpot to Count LIV Golf Tournament Viewers

The network, recently brought under control of Nexstar Media Group, will work with iSpot.TV, one of a handful of new providers of audience-measurement technologies, to measure the effectiveness of commercials attached to linear and digital broadcasts of tournaments backed by LIV Golf, the upstart league financed by Saudi Arabia. CW is to air 14 global LIV Golf League live events in 2023 and will stream the events live on its app. Weekend tournaments will air live on Saturdays and Sundays on the linear network, and stream online Fridays.

Top Madison Avenue Media Buyers, Roku, Join Media Giants in Bid to Certify Measurement Methods

Dentsu, WPP’s GroupM, Horizon Media, Interpublic Group’s IPG Mediabrands, Omnicom Group’s Omnicom Media Group, Publicis Media and RPA have all lent counsel to the U.S. Joint Industry Committee, a consortium formed in January led by Fox, NBCUniversal, Paramount, TelevisaUnivision, and Warner Bros. Discovery and their Open AP joint venture that hopes to vet and certify a dizzying array of audience-measurement technologies that have come to market in recent months. Along with Roku, Hallmark Media and the industry group Video Advertising Bureau, the companies have issued a new set of minimum requirements for acceptance of several new measurement technologies that TV networks would like to implement more quickly.
