Couple's Jet2 fury as 'absolutely horrific' honeymoon ends in medical 'disaster'
Jet2 has been forced to apologise after one couple had a “disastrous” honeymoon.Newcastle pair Clare and Andrew Carr had planned on having 19 days relaxing in Fuerteventura. However, a fire in their apartment meant that they ended up travelling for medical treatment rather than sunning it up on the beach. The couple had gone out there to allow Clare to relax after treatment for a brain tumour, Chronicle Live reports. But the couple have now hit out at Jet2, the company who organised the holiday, who, they claim, have refused to send an up-to-date fire certificate to cover the apartment's safety. The company stated that the hotel where the apartment was “complies with local health and safety requirements".Clare, 46, said: “The lights began to flicker and then there was an almighty bang and I could see that the fuse box, which was behind the entrance door, was on fire and fuses inside it were exploding.“Because of where the fuse box was, I could not use the door, so I ran on to the balcony and shouted for help before I rang Andrew.“Two guests from downstairs heard my yells and ran to ask reception to call the emergency services.“Andrew ran back to the apartment and tried to keep me calm, but I was absolutely frantic.“I couldn't get out of the door and the apartment was on the second floor, so I couldn't jump down. He (Andrew) had the idea of standing on a chair and a barman climbed on his shoulders up to my balcony, grabbed a towel and ran me out the apartment past the burning fuse box.

Disaster for British summer as sunseekers face shocking disposable barbecue ban
summer is now under threat as the Government mulls a ban on sizzling sausages in the park.Officials at Number 10 have launched a review into restricting sales of disposable barbecues in the UK, with the new measure potentially being introduced in time for the summer. It comes after concerns were raised following reports of forest fires being started by the campsite favourite.Single-use barbecues are responsible for 4% of serious accidental wildfires, according to Home Office data.Speaking on the potential ban, Environment minister Victoria Prentis said: “Disposable barbecues, if used correctly, do not, in themselves, pose a wildfire risk.“It is when they are left unattended, or used recklessly, that the risk occurs."The minister also admitted that, while the government "do not have enough data" yet to definitively prove how many fires are started by BBQs, "anecdotal evidence" suggested that they had "been responsible for a number of serious incidents".Labour Shadow Minister for Crime Reduction and Courts, Holly Walker-Lynch, meanwhile said that said that firefighters in West Yorkshire had already had to attend 75 serious wildfires so far this year.Though highlighting the "scale of the problem and devastation it causes", she also acknowledged that a ban "sounds like a big step".Ms Lynch added that although councils do already have the authority to clamp down on barbecues in public areas by using Public Space Protection Orders, they should not always be "expected to pick up the bill".Discount supermarket Aldi announced a ban on the cooking device last month, claiming that this would cut out 35 tonnes of single-use waste per year. They asked their shoppers to consider mini portable barbecues instead.

Will Smith Twitter account has a field day with Chris Rock slap disaster
Will Smith controversially slapped Chris Rock at the 2022 Oscars, incensed social media watchdogs swarmed the verified Twitter timeline of Will Smith — a random Twitch gamer and podcaster with the same name as the best actor Academy Award winner for “King Richard.” Now, Smith’s wrongfully accused digital doppelgänger has decided to troll those who thought he was the Oscar winner, racking up hundreds of thousands of likes on Twitter,.For those who’ve been living under a pop culture rock, the incident occurred after Smith, 53 (the actor) smacked the 57-year-old comic for cracking a divisive bald joke about his wife Jada Pinkett Smith, who’s been open about her ongoing struggle with alopecia.Needless to say, Will Smith, a previously little-known gamer with a blue check mark, was quick to react to his celebrity counterpart’s smackdown, tweeting: “whelp.”“I’m sorry if you’re offended,” added Smith in a followup Tweet. The social media civilian even commented how the viral Oscars incident contrasted with the “In Memoriam” segment, writing: “Hopefully all anyone remembers at the end of the show is this inappropriately upbeat ‘In Memoriam’ segment.”“Gonna keep tweeting through it,” Smith added, before retweeting a follower who had quipped “Everybody hates Chris.”Whelp.The comments came after an army of social media bozos mistook the gamer for the “Hancock” actor — despite that fact that he explicitly mentions that he’s “notthatwillsmith” on his Twitter bio.“Bruh control ur anger issues,” tweeted one social media Sherlock Holmes, to which a Smith defender replied, “Bruh, learn to tweet the right person.”Another Twitter sleuth wrote, “I over react to stuff all the time.

Miracle pooch found alive several days after being presumed dead in avalanche disaster
dog who was presumed dead after a horrifying avalanche crash has been found alive and well several days after the incident. The dog was found at a trailhead days after a skier had triggered an avalanche in Colorado, America which swept up the pooch, the skier and a snowboarder.Quick-thinking actions from the skier saw them deploy their airbag before being partially buried by the crumbling snow from the avalanche, but they lost sight of their four-legged friend when the avalanche hit. Both the snowboarder and skier were thankfully uninjured and able to make their way out of the avalanche aftermath.Brian Lazar, deputy director of the Colorado Avalanche Information Centre, told Fox Colorado: "The second skier down triggered an avalanche, which then washed over the snowboarder."This could have gone in a much different direction very easily."After getting themselves out from under the snow brought down by the avalanche, the pair looked for the dog along with a search crew but the pup didn't show up.They left the scene and presumed the pooch had died in the snow slide, with Lazar adding at the time: "We did have some search and rescue members visit yesterday, and they didn't see any signs of tracks."After several days missing, the dog miraculously showed itself at a trailhead of Monarch Pass in Chaffe County, LADBible reported.Despite the happy ending, Lazar insisted that the best course of action in an avalanche with a pet is for riders to keep an eye on their pet and only attempt to save them when safe to do so.He said: "We don't want dogs to wear avalanche transceivers.
