Strictly Come Dancing was due to begin in just over a week's time but as the nation begins its period of national mourning today (September 9) fans are speculating about whether the start of the entertainment show is likely to be delayed.

The Queen died on Thursday at the age of 96 and across the nation her death has triggered a number of closures and cancellations which include the postponement of concerts, sporting events and other planned activities.

Strictly Come Dancing was on it's final countdown and fans were just this week given a glimpse behind-the-scenes as filming got underway on Tuesday (September 6), with the pre-recorded launch episode that sees celebs matched up with their pro partners set to air on Saturday 17 September.

However, with the nation now being in a period of mourning that will last until seven days after Elizabeth II's funeral takes place, fans have shared fears that the BBC could delay the show.
