Milan Fashion Week. But perhaps this is how Fashion Weeks will look for some time: the constant checks at the door for Covid passes and the sparsely scattered audiences.
That latter is not just a product of social distancing but an exercise in ‘let’s see who’s left’. The pandemic hastened the demise or diminution of many fashion businesses and publications.
Where there were regularly audiences of 500 or a 1000 now there are 50 or 100. Many faces are missing the front row. On the other hand, the shows have finally got with the 21st century and stopped dispensing Perspex invitations.
Milan Fashion Week is digital – or rather the invitation system is. The shows are proudly happening IRL, helped by the glorious weather which means many take.
