Russian climbers have died following a horror 13,000ft fall from an active volcano, according to local reports. Klyuchevskaya Sopka, located in the Kamchatka region of Russia's Far East, is Eurasia's highest active volcano standing at 15,884ft.
As well as those who have died, it is believed that bad weather conditions have stranded another six climbers. Of those who died, four reportedly died instantly upon impact with another two dying shortly after. They died yesterday (Saturday, September 3).The 14-strong group (12 climbers and two guides) started their ascend to the volcano's summit on Tuesday (August 30).
The prosecutor's office of the Kamchatka region said that the accident occurred about 1,600ft below the summit, according to local media.
