Sir Elton John and David Furnish were the big winners at the 2020 British LGBT Awards tonight. The annual ceremony took place virtually for the very first time and was hosted by TV presenter Rylan Clark-Neal.
Sir Elton, and his partner David Furnish, scooped one of the biggest accolades of the night when they were named the winner of the Global Impact award, for their long-standing work to raise awareness of HIV/ AIDS with the Elton John Aids Foundation.
The pair accepted the award together in a joint video filmed in their lavish living room, which was broadcast during the ceremony, with Elton signing off, “say it loud, I’m gay and I’m proud.” Former Rugby star Gareth Thomas was awarded with the Sports Personality accolade, for his work.
