A picture has emerged allegedly showing bags of ammonium nitrate shoddily stacked into a Beirut port warehouse before it exploded, killing 135 people.

The eerie photo shows three men apparently examining one of the bags loaded with explosive in what is believed to be the Lebanese city's dockside Warehouse 12.

The hazardous load of ammonium nitrate is believed to have been abandoned by Russian businessman Igor Grechushkin in September 2013 before being transferred to Beirut's port.

It is thought he may now face questioning. Lebanese rescue teams continue to pull out bodies and hunt for missing people from the wreckage caused by explosion that sent a devastating blast wave across the capital city, injuring more than 5,000.
