Shamima Begum could mount a new bid to return to the UK after a landmark court ruling. The young woman who notoriously traveled to Syria after an online grooming campaign by Islamic State [ISIS] was stripped of her British citizenship after she left the UK to join them and now, aged 22, is living in a detention camp in Syria. But this week a 16-year-old schoolgirl from Derbyshire had charges against her dropped after the Home Office ruled she had been exploited online. The teen had been accused of downloading instructions for making bombs but the case was dropped after officials accepted she had been the victim of sexual exploitation.Ms Begum has complained that it’s difficult for her to communicate with her legal team while she’s in the chaotic environment of the al-Roj camp, which was set on fire by women loyal to IS at the end of last year.Ms Begum has said she was groomed online before leaving the UK with friends Amira Abase and Kadiza Sultana when she was just 15.She denies that she was directly involved in any acts of terror.

Begum insists that her motivation for joining IS was simply to “get married, have children and live a pure Islamic life”.She insists: “I did not do anything in Isis apart from be a mother and a wife … the government don’t actually have anything on me.”Intelligence sources say that some 900 Britons travelled to Syria or Iraq to join Isis.
