Salford man arrested in Spain on suspicion of conspiracy to murder

A Salford man has been arrested in Spain on suspicion of conspiring to murder two men. Working with the National Crime Agency (NCA) and Greater Manchester Police (GMP), Spanish officers arrested Jamie Rothwell, 33, at an apartment block in Barcelona on Sunday (May 24).

Mr Rothwell was wanted by GMP. A European arrest warrant was issued in October 2019. He was wanted for allegedly conspiring to murder two men - and for two counts of conspiring to commit grievous bodily harm.

NCA investigators and the agency’s international liaison officers in Spain traced Mr Rothwell. Spanish officers executed the arrest.
