Wigan at around 5pm on Sunday (June 7).A man was reported to have been using the weapon to threaten people inside the house.Witnesses said they saw armed police rush to the residential street.A helicopter was spotted circling overhead.Officers, with the help of the dog unit, eventually found a man in nearby woodland.An axe was also recovered.A 44-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of affray; and possession of an offensive weapon.He was taken to hospital having suffered a 'minor' injury.
