Salford has the highest rate of deaths from coronavirus in Greater Manchester, figures show. The city also has the seventh-highest fatality rate for women in the country.
Data reveals 296 people in Salford have died having contracted COVID-19. The city has a population of around 258,000, meaning the death rate per 10,000 people is 11.4.
That figure is the highest of any borough in Greater Manchester. Manchester, which has a higher population, has the lowest fatality rate per 10,000 residents at 6.3.
