Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney will 'make sure' Wrexham legend Gareth Davies will go to Wembley despite battling dementia.Davies made 490 appearances over a 16-year career spent exclusively at his boyhood town Wrexham between 1967 and 1983.
As a centre-back, Davies captained Wrexham, and he even earned three caps with the Welsh national side in 1978, as well as some at the Under-23 level.A hashtag to get Davies as a guest of honour for Wrexham's clash with Bromley in the FA Trophy final.
Reynolds tweeted: "Rob and I will make sure Gareth makes it to Wembley in comfort. He showed up for @Wrexham_AFC and we’ll show up for him."The idea to get Davies, whose currently in a care home in Wrexham, as a guest of honour was from Martin Evans, whose wife used to care for Davies."The amount of love and support this man is receiving from fans young and old is phenomenal," he told The Leader."When my wife gave me this idea I wasn't 100 per cent sure how it would go down.
