Chelsea chairman Ken Bates once claimed that Roman Abramovich had looked to buy Manchester United - but he didn't like the atmosphere.
Abramovich's reign at Chelsea is coming to an end as the Russian has put the Blues up for sale. The Russian oligarch was added to the UK Government's sanctions list last week following Russia's invasion of Ukraine in February.
However, Chelsea's current situation could have been drastically different if Abramovich had set his eyes on the Red Devils instead of the Blues.
Bates claimed that he settled on Chelsea after not being impressed with the atmosphere at Old Trafford.Bates told BBC Radio Five Live: "He went to Old Trafford, liked the game but did not like the atmosphere.
