The Queen was once bitten by a royal corgi after trying to break up a dog fight – and required three stitches.Her Majesty has been devoted to the breed since her parents gave her a dog called Susan on her 18th birthday in 1944.However, the pooches have occasionally caused a nuisance.Singer Max Bygraves once revealed how a flatulent corgi left him red-faced while he was dining with the monarch.He told her: “I hope you don’t think that was me.”As well as being the scourge of servants – not their fault as Corgis are "heelers" and trained to nip at the heels of the cattle they drove and guarded – Whisky, a grandson of Susan, was even said to have taken a bite out of the seat of a Guards officer’s trousers.The Queen herself once needed stitches.
