Queen is "unlikely" to ever meet Prince Harry's daughter Lilibet following his decision to skip Prince Philip's memorial service, a royal expert has claimed.Richard Fitzwilliams made the remarks after the Duke of Sussex revealed he would not be attending Westminster Abbey in tribute to his late grandfather later this month.
The royal church is hosting a Service of Thanksgiving for the Duke of Edinburgh to honour his relationship with the Abbey following his death on April 9 last year, the Mirror reports. On Friday (March 11), Harry issued a statement about the service and confirmed that he would not be in attendance, saying he would feel "unsafe" in the UK after he lost his personal security after moving to the US.That decision means the Queen, who has recently recovered from Covid, is "unlikely" to meet nine-month-old Lilibet, according to Fitzwilliams."I think this was expected because of the issue with security, obviously, he would have wanted to come if he could," he told The Sun Online."I think it's a great pity, what this means is...
the rift will remain unhealed."When asked about the possibility of the Queen ever meeting Lilibet, Mr Fitzwilliams said: "It's increasingly unlikely. "If they don't bring Lili over, then obviously that won't happen.
It's all something that's clearly not going to be resolved in the foreseeable future."And it doesn't seem like they're going to come over."Prince Harry said in his statement that he plans to see the Queen "as soon as possible", although it is unclear at this stage when that will be.
