It’s taken just three games and, as promised, Mauricio Pochettino has claimed the first trophy of his managerial career. However, the new Paris Saint-Germain manager’s first triumph has been somewhat overshadowed by his Brazilian superstar Neymar.
Pochettino, who replaced Thomas Tuchel at the helm at the Parc des Princes, won the battle of former Tottenham bosses as his side saw off Andre Vilas Boas’ Marseille in the Trophee des Champions on Wednesday night.
Mauro Icardi scored the 39th minute opener for PSG, before Neymar’s penalty five minutes from time sealed the win. Dimitri Payet scored an injury-time consolation for OM, but it wasn’t enough as PSG took home the trophy for the eighth successive year.
