Prince William begged an emotional Princess Diana to leave England after she was constantly hounded by the paparazzi. According to The Sun’s long-serving royal photographer Arthur Edwards, the then-young royal pleaded with his mother to move to a different country.
Princess Di and her two sons were on a trip to the south of France along with her boyfriend at the time Dodi Fayed – son of billionaire former Harrods owner Mohamed Al Fayed.
The trip – which proved to be Diana’s final holiday with her boys – was extremely stressful, with photographers following their every move.
In the 2007 documentary, Diana: Last Days of a Princess, Mr Edwards said Diana had decided enough was enough. He recalled: “Suddenly, she strode down some steps and very rapidly got into a boat.
