Prince William and Kate Middleton will attend England and Wales' Six Nations match on Saturday as the teams clash for the first time since Kate was named as England Rugby's new patronage.The 40 year old's husband, Prince William, is the patron of Wales Rugby, meaning the married couple will be rivals as they watch on at Twickenham Stadium.
Royal expert Katie Nicholl tells OK! there is a "competition" between the pair as they gear up to cheer on their respective teams.
She says: "I think you often see friendly competition between them and I think that brings out the best in them. "With one of them being Welsh rugby and one of them being English rugby, there'll be a lot of fun to be had around that dynamic." Duncan Larcombe – who recently told how Kate had elocution lessons before getting engaged to William – added: "Funnily enough, it used to be a cause of some banter and one-upmanship when Harry was in the role so Kate has taken over that. "It's friendly competition, Prince William was in Paris for the 2007 rugby World Cup final, visibly cheering on England against South Africa in the final that they lost. "Prince William's probably the only Welsh rugby fan in the world who also supports England." And 2003 rugby world cup winner Mike Tindall – who is married to Prince William's cousin Zara Tindall – has also spoken about Kate's competitiveness when it comes to sport.
