Piers Morgan has hit criticised England’s cricket team, after the captain Joe Root announced his resignation from the roll yesterday morning (15 April) after a thrashing defeat from the Caribbean.Joe, 31, told of the toll being captain had taken in the five years he lead the men’s cricket team.

He oversaw just one victory in his last 17 matches, so now he will focus on acting as one of the UK’s best batsmen.Piers Morgan claims Joe’s teammates were to blame, tweeting to his millions of fans: "Joe Root resigns as England cricket captain.

Many will be happy about this but I’m not. He was let down badly by his teammates & without his own outstanding batting, we’d have fared far worse."Thanks for all you’ve done @root66 - very sorry it’s ended like this."Sharing the news of his resignation, Joe said: “After returning from the Caribbean tour and having time to reflect, I have decided to step down as England Men’s Test Captain.

It has been the most challenging decision I have had to make in my career but having discussed this with my family and those closest to me; I know the timing is right."I am immensely proud to have captained my country and will look back on the past five years with enormous pride.
