Perth and Kinross Council’s education committee convener is “disappointed” secondary pupils will have to continue wearing face masks.
This week the Scottish Government decided against lifting the restriction after the October break.The rule means secondary pupils and staff will be required to wear face coverings in class.
Conservative councillor Caroline Shiers - who convenes PKC’s lifelong learning committee - previously called on the Scottish Government to relax the rule.
Cllr Shiers pointed to a discrepancy between pupils not being “able to sit in their classrooms without wearing a face covering, as we can all do in cafés and restaurants.”This week she said she had expected the rule to be lifted after the October break.
