Katherine Ryan has opened up about female representation in television, critcising the lack of female hosts of late-night chat shows in the UK.The standup comic appeared on Grace Dent’s Comfort Eating podcast recently, where she claimed that men are more commonly given late-night hosting gigs, whereas women are featured more on daytime TV.She spoke about being raised in Canada before moving to the UK in 2008 when she was 25, saying that she “grew up” with the idea of men more frequently hosting late-night shows compared to women.“I thought that either myself or any of my female peers could have a late-night chat show in this country. I think Sarah Millican had one for a little while, not any more,” she answered when asked about being prevented from certain jobs.“And I think for whatever reason, women are sometimes relegated to daytime and then the boys do all the late-night chat shows,” she continued.The format has been historically dominated by men, with The Graham Norton Show and The Jonathan Ross Show currently being the UK’s biggest chat shows.

An Edinburgh Fringe Festival performer who was left in tears after just one person turned up to her show has been accused of pulling the same "stunt" last year.

Comedian John Bishop has announced the sad death of his mum, Kathy, in a heartbreaking post on social media. The actor is being supported by friends and fans after taking to Instgram with the sad update. Channel 4 has announced Taskmaster will kick off its new series later this month.As announced on Thursday (March 16), series 15 of the comedy game show will start on Thursday March 30 at 9pm on Channel 4.The line-up for the new series includes comedians Frankie Boyle, Jenny Eclair and Ivo Graham, alongside Ghosts star Kiell Smith-Bynoe and Mae Martin, who created and starred in the Netflix comedy series Feel Good.Series 14 concluded in December last year, which featured Dara Ó Briain, Fern Brady, John Kearns, Munya Chawawa and Sarah Millican. Taskmaster is in development at Paramount.As reported by Variety, Taskmaster Australia will be produced by Avalon Television with Kevin & Co for Network 10.The series, set to be released next year, will be hosted by comedian and writer Tom Gleeson, alongside Tom Cashman.Taskmaster has been adapted for various countries since it originally debuted in the UK in 2015, including New Zealand, Sweden, Norway, Finland and Canada.Alex Horne, who originally created the format and co-hosts the UK version, is an executive producer on the Australian series, alongside Richard Allen-Turner, Rob Aslett, James Taylor, Jon Thoday and Andy Devonshire.The UK version is currently in its fourteenth series on Channel 4, co-hosted by Greg Davies.

DJ Sara Cox has renewed her wedding vows to husband Ben Cyzer with a can of Stella in hand.The broadcaster, 47, wore a wedding dress and renewed her vows at an inflatable castle, nine years after the couple first said ‘I Do’. Sharing the news with fans on Instagram, Sara shared photos of the event, writing: “We renewed our vows with our best besti buddies @campbestivalshropshire …and the bride wore satin & carried a can of Stella”.
