Self Esteem has announced a new album called ‘A Complicated Woman’, and today shares the first track ‘Focus Is Power’.The singer – real name Rebecca Lucy Taylor – has announced ‘A Complicated Woman’ on social media today, which is set for release on April 25 via Polydor.With news of the album she has shared her new track ‘Focus Is Power’, a goosebump-inducing ballad, featuring a choir of mainly female voices, about self-confidence and determination.“You see, it wasn’t up to me but now it could be / But now I see it clear with every passing of each year / I deserve to be here…” the lyrics go. GIRLBAND! have claimed that they were recently pulled over by police in Switzerland and their tour manager was held at gunpoint.The Nottingham band were on their way to a headline show in Sion, when the incident happened.According to their tour manager, Mark Evans: “The police pulled me over and whilst trying to explain myself, the band (who were tired after a long drive and were getting concerned at us being pulled over) stared at the policeman who started to look on with pity at the band, only to then accuse me of human trafficking.”He continued: “According to the policemen, an old lady (whom I had earlier asked directions from at a petrol station) reported an ‘unusual gentleman with a strong accent’ carrying three distressed looking women in the back of a van heading into Switzerland.“I was frogmarched to the police car, a gun was pulled and I politely explained the purpose of the journey. The story was then verified separately by the band and the police backed down and put their guns away.”Following the incident, the band – Georgie, Jada and Kay – also spoke out.

The Pogues have revealed the guest vocalists for their 2025 ‘Rum Sodomy & The Lash’ UK tour.The band will be heading on a UK tour in May, making stops in cities including Leeds, Glasgow, Newcastle, Birmingham and Manchester. Depeche Mode kicked off the 2024 leg of their ‘Memento Mori’ tour at The O2 in London last night (Monday January 22). Check out photos, footage and the setlist below.Last night marked the first gig of the band’s lengthy run of arena shows in the UK, Ireland and Europe, touring in support of their 15th and most recent album ‘Memento Mori’ and marking their first date in the capital since their acclaimed show at London’s Twickenham Stadium last summer.Following a support slot from Nadine Shah, the band took to the stage to ‘Memento Mori’s atmospheric opener ‘My Cosmos Is Mine’ with an ambitious stage production repeating the light show and Anton Corbijn visuals from the stadium run.Frontman Dave Gahan, while animated in his dancing and showing off his white leather footwear during ‘Walking In My Shoes’, was sparing in his on-stage banter – aside from thanking London for their reception and paying tribute to the “angelic” vocals of bandmate Martin Gore who took the lead for a short acoustic segment.

Nadine Shah has released ‘Twenty Things’, the second single from her upcoming full-length, ‘Filthy Underneath’. Upon a hypnotic groove, dramatic piano stabs and a gloomy sonic atmosphere, Shah recounts various colourful characters who appear to hide darker secrets. In the second verse, she sings: “They’re laying flowers by the bus stop / Some poor old junkie’s lucks up  / Took a man and woman on the same day  / His right leg shorter than the other / The second eldest brother  / Goes to see his mother every Sunday ”. In a press release, Shah expressed that the sombre track was inspired by a slate of characters she encountered “whilst in recovery”.

Nadine Shah has apologised for calling U2‘s Adam Clayton “a fucking spenk” in 2021.Shah initially made the comments when pointing to a clip from Clayton’s appearance in the documentary Phil Lynott: Songs For While I’m Away.In the clip that Shah tweeted, Clayton speaks on Lynott’s work as a bassist – in particular his role playing the instrument in Thin Lizzy. “One thing you need to know about the bass is it’s that big, heavy thing that hangs down between your legs,” Clayton said in the documentary.“The bass is this secret weapon.
