It is set for release on September 6 via Decca.According to a press release, the project will mark a significant evolution in Richter’s extensive musical journey, and see him dig deeper into motifs including optimism and human emotion.

Glastonbury’s Palais Cinema has unveiled its line-up for this year’s edition of the festival and it features a star-studded list of guests including Paul Mescal, Florence Pugh and Andrew Scott.In a video unveiling the line-up with Radio 1’s Ali Plumb, EMPIRE’s Helen O’Hara and Bastille’s Dan Smith who is a patron and supporter of the area, it was revealed that film showings at the event include a mixture of pre-released screenings, recent cinema hits, music documentaries and classic film showings.Some of those on show include Despicable Me 4, Furiosa, Dune Part Two, All Of Us Strangers, Barbie, The Fall Guy, The Greatest Showman, Baby Driver and Shaun Of The Dead in its 20th anniversary year.Guests at the event include Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright who will be taking part in a Q&A about Shaun Of The Dead; Wright will also introduce his film Baby Driver.Paul Mescal and Andrew Scott will reunite with director Andrew Haigh for a Q&A about their emotive film All Of Us Strangers, which was released earlier this year, while Florence Pugh will speak about Dune Part 2 ahead of the screening.Other guests there include Tilda Swinton, who will take part in a Q&A for Only Lovers Left Alive and will introduce her new film Problemista while Cate Blanchett will talk about I’m Not There, the film she starred in about Bob Dylan.Both Swinton and Blanchett also appeared at last year’s Glastonbury, with Swinton joining Max Richter on stage while Blanchett danced on stage with Sparks. There will be a screening of the first two episodes of new Star Wars series The Acolyte, while Kneecap will talk about their new documentary film.

Adam Sandler plays an astronaut sent to the edge of the solar system in sci-fi drama Spaceman.Directed by Johan Renck (Chernobyl), the film follows astronaut Jakub Procházka (Sandler) who encounters a creature at the edge of the solar system that helps him put his earthly problems back together.Other cast members include Carey Mulligan, Kunal Nayar, Lena Olin, Isabella Rossellini and Paul Dano as the voice of the extraterrestrial spider.The film is based on the 2017 novel Spaceman Of Bohemia by Jaroslav Kalfar, and was released on Netflix on March 1, 2024.Max Richter composed the film’s score. His previous credits include the soundtracks for 2007’s Waltz With Bashir, HBO’s The Leftovers and 2019’s Ad Astra.“The visual language of the film really informs your musical decisions,” Richter said about the soundtrack for Spaceman.

Grace Jones has announced a new concert at West Yorkshire’s Halifax Piece Hall, as part of the venue’s Live at the Piece Hall series in the Summer of 2024.The Jamaican musician and fashion icon will be performing at The Piece Hall’s massive, 66,000 square-foot courtyard on Saturday, June 22. Three tiers of tickets will be made available, namely General Admission, which simply allows entry into the courtyard, Balcony Tickets, which entitle holders to access to the venue’s balcony level and an exclusive bar, and Live at Lounge, which allows holders access into an exclusive VIP area.General ticket sales for the event will be made available via Ticketmaster on Friday, January 26 at 10AM, local time.

Max Richter has announced a new audio workshop, SRM Sounds, created in collaboration with his multimedia production studio, Studio Richter Mahr.SRM Sounds offers musicians an opportunity to harness the sound of Richter’s personal collection of instruments and sonic explorations at Studio Richter Mahr in the English countryside and to compose their own songs with them.Working with ex-Spitfire Audio CEO Will Evans and his new venture Song Athletics – to bring the instruments in his studio to digital life – the first product to be released is SRM Sounds #001 which is a Steinway grand piano.With Richter’s distinct musical signature meticulously captured and transformed into digital format, creators will be able to immerse themselves in the tones and intricate nuances of the revered instrument.Essentially, once SRM Sounds #001 has been purchased and downloaded, any composer around the world can use that sound, and ‘play’ as though Richter himself was there.“For composers, sound is an incredibly personal and very emotional thing.
