It came about as part of Abbey Road’s annual collaboration with Pitchfork London.The spare, spacious recording sees Marling’s vocals add depth and timbre to the song, with minimal instrumentation giving it a hauntingly intimate effect.

Laura Marling has announced a pair of Manchester shows, which will serve as her only live dates in 2025.The singer-songwriter released her eighth studio album ‘Patterns In Repeat’ in October, including the singles ‘Patterns’, ‘No One’s Gonna Love You Like I Can’ and ‘Child Of Mine’.Following the record’s release, Marling played a string of five shows at London’s Hackney Church and then four nights in New York’s Bowery Ballroom.Now, she has announced a one-off pair of shows at Manchester’s Albert Hall, to take place on March 5 and 6. Limited Edition radio show is returning to BBC Radio 6 Music this month.The actor and musician has hosted two previous instalments of the show, both in the autumns of 2020 and 2021, and kicks off this year’s 10-part series on September 17.Murphy will broadcast a “nocturnal playlist to end the weekend” from 10pm-12pm on Sundays in which he’ll “share songs from all corners of his record collection and share why they hold a special place in his life”, a press release states.The Oppenheimer star announced the news during a chat with Nemone (sitting in for Lauren Laverne) on BBC Radio 6 Music earlier today (September 1). HMV has announced that it’s getting back into the record label game, launching 1921 Records and signing its first artist, India Arkin.Arkin was apparently spotted when she played an in-store at HMV in Newcastle earlier this year, and is described as a cross between Laura Marling and Billie Eilish. That in-store performance was part of the music retailer’s Live & Local programme, which has seen more than 1000 grassroots artists play in HMV shops since the start of the year.The musician’s debut album, ‘Home Truths’, is set to be released as part of HMV’s National Album Day activity on 15 Oct.

Frank Turner is set to headline tonight’s sold-out “final party” (May 13) at London’s much-loved Nambucca venue.The 300-capacity north London venue, which has played host to early gigs by the likes of The Libertines, Florence + The Machine and Wolf Alice, is set to close its doors for good after this weekend, despite “trying everything we can to keep Nambucca going” following the COVID-19-enforced shutdown of live music.Speaking to NME this week about its closure, Nambucca’s general manager Giles Horne said: “It would be great if venues could be owned by venues and run as venues, and less tied to beer sales, which make things even less profitable. I just hope that someone buys Nambucca and continues to keep it as a venue.”Turner will headline Nambucca’s sold-out “final party” tonight, with ticket sales going towards “helping out Giles and his team at the venue initially” before “any excess will go to the Music Venue Trust to help them in their fight to stop this happening to any more places around the country”.Writing in a post on his social media channels yesterday (May 12), Turner recalled his fond memories of his “spiritual home”.“The venue has seen ups and downs, fires, rebuilding, parties, gigs, legends, newcomers, everything under the sun, in the last 20 years,” Turner wrote about Nambucca.

Peaky Blinders’ final series, the original soundtrack is getting a vinyl release.The 49 tracks of music and dialogue from the show’s first five seasons will be spread across three blood-red LPs.The vinyl release will feature two versions of Peaky Blinders’ iconic theme tune ‘Right Hand Red’ – the original by Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds as well as a reworked version by PJ Harvey.Other tracks included are Jack White‘s ‘Love Is Blindness’, Arctic Monkeys’ ‘Do I Wanna Know?’, Radiohead’s ‘You and Whose Army?’ and ‘Lazarus’ by David Bowie.Songs by Royal Blood, Laura Marling, The White Stripes and Queens Of The Stone Age will also appear. Peaky Blinders director Anthony Byrne has revealed that Radiohead‘s Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood have contributed some new and original music to the upcoming sixth and final season of the show.The Birmingham period crime-noir drama will premiere its final season this weekend (Sunday February 27), and, as usual, fans are eager to hear what music will feature in the show.Alongside Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds‘ theme tune of ‘Red Right Hand’, the show has famously featured music by the likes of Arctic Monkeys, David Bowie, PJ Harvey, Iggy Pop, Royal Blood, Laura Marling, IDLES, Savages and Foals – as well as an original score by Anna Calvi on the last season.With Radiohead’s music having previously featured in key scenes, it has now been revealed that bandmates Yorke and Greenwood have penned new pieces for the upcoming series.“Thom Yorke and Johnny Greenwood contributed some original stuff,” director Anthony Bryne told NME. “I’m over the moon about all of that.

Green Man Festival has confirmed that its 2021 event will go ahead next month and has revealed the line-up, headlined by Mogwai, Caribou, Fontaines D.C.
