Laura Marling has announced her forthcoming album ‘Patterns In Repeat’ and has shared the tender lead single ‘Patterns’.‘Patterns In Repeat’ marks Marling’s first release in four years and is set for release on October 25 via Chrysalis/Partisan.
The first taster of the LP came in the form of ‘Patterns’ a soft and tender track that features gentle plucking from an acoustic guitar as Marling sings: “And as those years go by they’ll look upon you kindly like a friend / A pattern in repeat / And never ends,” discussing the repeating rhythms in life.You can pre-order/pre-save the album here.
Written, recorded and produced by Marling herself at her home studio in London, ‘Patterns In Repeat’ was written after the birth of her daughter in 2023 and finds the musican reflecting the patterns at play in the constellation of a family.It follows her previous full-length effort, 2020’s ‘Song For Our Daughter‘ which was written figuratively, and from the perspective of writing to and about a fictional daughter.
Speaking about the new album in a press release, Marling said: “Over the course of nine months, I had happily prepared myself for the fact that my life as a songwriter would be put on hold while I adjusted to life as a new parent.
