Joe Russo, the Avengers: Endgame co-director, is playfully taking a job at Martin Scorsese after the director Killers of the Flower Moon director took a dig at Marvel films.

The Oscar winner’s daughter, Francesca, posted a TikTok this month in which Scorsese playfully directs his dog, Oscar. Russo responded by posting a video in which he tells Scorsese they share the same muse.

Marvel director Joe Russo has seemingly taken a dig at Martin Scorsese over his box office success.The man behind Avengers: Endgame – which is the second highest grossing film of all time – uploaded a clip on Instagram which shows Scorsese addressing his dog as Oscar.The clip then cuts to Russo who says: “Argh look he’s got schnauzer, I love schnauzers and his name is Oscar which is really cute,” in reference to Scorsese’s Academy Award nominations over the years and his solitary win for his 2006 film The Departed.He then shows his own schnauzer dog, which he calls “Box Office” which is thought to be a clear nod to his and his brother Anthony Russo’s Marvel box office hit films.A post shared by The Russo Brothers (@therussobrothers)The clip comes after Scorsese has in the past taken several digs at Marvel movies.He previously described the movies as “not cinema”, while he also said more recently about the glut of comic book movies in cinemas: “The danger there is what it’s doing to our culture. AGBO has announced the return of their filmmaking competition, No Sleep ‘til Film Fest, inviting filmmakers from all over the world to make a short film in only 48 hours. Part of AGBO’s commitment to championing emerging content creators, the two-day festival challenges participants to make bite-sized films, three minutes or less, for a chance to win prizes and mentorship from the independent studio.

Anthony Mackie will soon hold the distinction of playing not one but two iconic Marvel superheroes, with his previous character — Falcon — picking up Steve Rogers’ shield to become the next Captain America, a transition that will come to fruition in next year’s “Captain America: Brave New World”.

Zack Sharf Digital News Director Anthony Mackie revealed in a new interview with Inverse that he wrote Marvel Studios multiple letters asking to play Black Panther before he joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Sam Wilson/Falcon. Mackie figured the only prominent Black superhero Marvel might develop a movie for is Black Panther, so he put all his cards on playing T’Challa. “I had been contacting Marvel a lot about Black Panther,” Mackie said. “I had written them letters. I was trying to find a way to make them make Black Panther. And I wanted to be Black Panther because growing up I fucking loved Black Panther.” Mackie landed a meeting with longtime Marvel producer Nate Moore and directors Joe and Anthony Russo, who were developing “Captain America: The Winter Solider” at the time. No one told Mackie what part they were meeting him for at the time, so he just presumed it was for Black Panther.

Extraction 2 dropped on Netflix last week, with even more action and impressive fighting sequences than the original. Fans who've already watched it have all been hoping for the same thing.

Extraction looks to become a formidable action franchise for Netflix.Directed by Sam Hargrave, both films see mercenary Tyler Rake (Chris Hemsworth) tackle a dangerous rescue mission with explosive consequences. They’re both written by Joe Russo and adapted from the graphic novel Ciudad by Ande Parks.In Extraction 2, released on Netflix in June, Hemsworth, Golshifteh Farahani and Adam Bessa reprise their roles from the original.

Jazz Tangcay Artisans Editor Filmmaker Sam Hargrave knew he would have to up the ante when it came to filming Netflix’s action sequel “Extraction 2.” The first film, which came out in 2020, contained a 12-minute sequence that included a car chase, gun battles, knife battles and plenty of explosions. It was during early conversations with producer Joe Russo that the idea of a longer sequence came up. Says Hargrave, “Joe said, ‘It’d be cool if we opened the film with Tyler (Chris Hemsworth) extracting someone from a prison. Joe he wrote this into the script, ‘And thus follows the greatest oner in cinema history.’” Hargrave devised a plan forward, and the result was a mind-blowing, 21-minute one-take sequence that sees black ops specialist Tyler Rake entering a prison to rescue the family of a violent gang member. As Tyler and the family members escape the prison and jump into armored vehicles, a chase ensues, and when they board a train, it comes under attack by gangsters who land a helicopter on the train.

The summer showcase, held in downtown Los Angeles this August, will include programs dedicated to digital, interactive and gaming work, stand-up comedy, screenplay workshops and short films. “Slamdance has been a wonderful partner and we are happy to be expanding our relationship to our Downtown LA campus. Charna Flam Chris Hemsworth’s hit action franchise, “Extraction,” is getting a third adventure. The action star and director Sam Hargrave made the announcement at Netflix’s Tudum event on Saturday, following the June 16 premiere of “Extraction 2.” The first two films center on black ops mercenary Tyler Rake (Hemsworth). In the first film, Tyler takes on a mission to save an Indian crime lord’s son, but it pushes him to the brink of death. “Extraction 2” picks up with Tyler recovering from the assignment, but then he decides to embark on another risky task in order to save the family of a famed Georgian gangster. Hargrave, whose directorial debut was the first “Extraction,” has lent his stunt expertise to the franchise’s second film as well. The stuntman-turned-director stunned fans with the sequel’s use of a singular shot for a 21-minute action sequence.

With theaters shuttered, our immediate movie-going futures looking bleak and escapist entertainment becoming a therapeutic necessity, along came the rise of The Streaming Service Blockbuster — most notably “Extraction.” Stuntman-turned-director Sam Hargrave’s muscular albeit convoluted actioner, centered on a mercenary sent to rescue the kidnapped son of a crime lord, was handed a captive audience. All the folks at home made it a worldwide sensation for Netflix, and it continues to tear up the charts as their seventh most popular film ever (according to their internal, recently-released metrics). Three years later and armed with a far better, bloody and bruising quest for the laconic hero, Hargrave, star Chris Hemsworth and screenwriter Joe Russo return to the burgeoning franchise with “Extraction 2”. (The graphic novel “Ciudad,” upon which the first film was based, was written by Ande Parks from a story by Parks and the Russo brothers.) The filmmakers’ renewed vigor is our reward as, similar to its unfussy title, this sequel deals in clean-lined action and suspense, removing much of the excessive weight that bogged down the original. As its compelling lead character cuts through his personal strife whilst helping another family find the sense of freedom he too seeks, a new trail is blazed that recenters the series on bone-crunching brutality and bravado.

Tyler Rake was clinically dead when we last saw him at the end of “Extraction,” tumbling over a bridge in Bangladesh with a fatal, burbling bullet wound to his neck. But death is no match for Netflix.

Citadel, the big-budget drama starring Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Richard Madden, was designed as a global franchise with a U.S. series and planned spinoffs set in countries including Italy and Mexico.

Idris Elba has joined the sequel of a popular Netflix film, which releases this month.
