Hot Chip’s Felix Martin teams up with ‘Hey Duggee’ for ‘Summer Fun Mix’
Hot Chip has joined forces with the team behind hit children’s animated series Hey Duggee for a new ‘Summer Fun Mix’.The Mercury Music Prize & Grammy-nominated musician teamed up with the hit preschool brand to curate a collection of remixed tracks – each taken from the original series and given a refreshing electro-pop spin. The ‘Hey Duggee: Summer Fun Mix’ spans 30 minutes and was released today on the brand’s official YouTube channel.Songs remixed for the project include ‘The Welcome Badge’, a catchy original track which is designed to help Ukrainian refugee families feel at home in the UK, as well as more original songs including ‘Getting Ready’, ‘Duggee On The Dancefloor’, ‘The Feelings Song’ and ‘Hey Duggee Birthday’.The collaboration stemmed from an A Capella Badge episode of Hey Duggee – which saw the creators of the series pay tribute to the band with an animated quartet of birds called Hot Cheep.“I had a lot of fun stepping into the Hey Duggee universe for this mix and I’m looking forward to working more with the guys in Hot Cheep too,” Martin said of the new partnership.Simon Clarke, Head of Digital Content, Kids & Family at BBC Studios Social agreed, adding: “Following on from the hugely positive reaction to the A Capella Badge episode from Hot Chip and Hey Duggee fans, commissioning Felix to remix original Duggee songs into a Summer Party compilation felt like a natural next step.“We’re really pleased with his creation and think it’ll be the soundtrack to many family get-togethers and kids’ parties this summer!”This is far from the first time that the animated children’s series – which has been the most streamed CBeebies show on BBC iPlayer for three consecutive years – has teamed up with a famous face.

IDLES, Rina Sawayama and Hot Chip join call for UK government to stop 260 per cent visa increase for touring artists
IDLES, Rina Sawayama, Hot Chip and more have backed a campaign urging the UK government to act on US visa charges.Last month, the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced that it was planning to raise touring visa fees for foreign acts by 260 per cent.Under the DHS proposal, applications for a P visa – which allows acts arriving in the States to perform temporarily – would increase from the current rate of $460 (£375.23) to $1,615 (£1,317).The longer-term O work visa would also jump from $460 (£375.23) to $1,655 (£1,349).In response, the Music Managers Forum (MMF) and Featured Artists Coalition (FAC) boosted their #LetTheMusicMove campaign – originally created in June 2021 – to oppose the potential changes, emphasising that the move could result in “crippling costs for UK artists looking to tour North America”.Now, a number of touring artists have bolstered the campaign with their support.“After what we’ve been through with Brexit and the pandemic, the implications of these new visa proposals are incredibly worrying for all artists wanting to travel and perform in the US,” Sawayama said.“I travel with 15+ crew on a tight margin, and any increase in costs sadly gets passed onto concert goers through higher ticket prices, which is not fair. Live music should be democratic and accessible and this is just another blow to the arts sector and the experience of concert goers.”Adam Devonshire of IDLES added: “Britain is renowned for its hugely profitable musical exports, however with pointless and costly restrictions such as these, British artists will struggle to make a name for themselves in the US, which would be a huge shame.

Hot Chip have announced details of their new album ‘Freakout/Release’ – you can hear their new single ‘Down’ below. The forthcoming record will be the follow-up to the five-piece’s ‘A Bath Full Of Ecstasy’, which was released back in June 2019.Hot Chip’s eighth studio album ‘Freakout/Release’ will be released on August 19 via Domino. Written and recorded in the band’s Relax & Enjoy studio in east London, the making of the album was particularly inspired by the band’s regular live cover of Beastie Boys’ ‘Sabotage’.“The idea of being out of control is always there in dance music, in a positive sense,” Hot Chip’s Al Doyle said in a press release in relation to the cover’s influence on the new album, with frontman Alexis Taylor adding: “By the time we were able to be back together, we were turning on a tap and having a lot of ideas being poured out quite quickly.”In regards to the lyrical themes of ‘Freakout/Release’, Joe Goddard said: “We were living through a period where it was very easy to feel like people were losing control of their lives in different ways. There’s a darkness that runs through a lot of those tracks.”‘Down’, the first single from ‘Freakout/Release’, has been released today (April 19), and you can watch the Douglas Hart and Steve Mackey-directed video for the track above.‘Freakout/Release’ also features contributions from Soulwax, Canadian rapper Cadence Weapon and the London-based DJ and musician Lou Hayter. You can see the tracklist and album artwork for Hot Chip’s ‘Freakout/Release’ below.1. ‘Down’2. ‘Eleanor’3. ‘Freakout/Release’4. ‘Broken’5. ‘Not Alone’6. ‘Hard To Be Funky’ (feat.
