Confidence Man have announced their new ‘Fabric Presents…’ mix and have shared their new single ‘Break It Down (On The Bassline)’.The Australian band have teamed up with fellow Australian DJ/Producer duo IN2STELLAR on ‘Break It Down (On The Bassline)’, a bouncy and pulsing dance track that features Confidence Man’s Janet Planet singing “Break it down on the bassline” ahead of the bass drop.They have teamed up with Fabric – the iconic hub of electronic music culture – for ‘Fabric Presents Confidence Man’, which has been described by the band in a press release as a “bunch of songs that we’ve been playing at parties and dj sets etc combined with a bunch of older tunes we’ve loved for ages.”They continued: “Also a bunch of tunes sent thru from friends we also dig. Were tryin to make something we’d love to dance to.” And on today’s collaboration, IN2STELLAR adds: “We’ve had countless nights out partying / clubbing with Confidence Man and have always bonded over our shared love for early 2000s club bangers and DJing.

Hot Chip have returned with their first new music of 2023 – listen to ‘Fire Of Mercy’, featuring Yunè Pinku, below.The band’s new track is their first since the release of their most recent full-length album, ‘Freakout/Release’, which came out last August.Discussing the new track, the band’s Joe Goddard said: “Fire of Mercy’ relates to the central concept of William Blake’s ‘Songs of Experience’ – it bemoans the corruption that inevitably comes from adulthood and longs for a return to the purity of childhood.”Yunè Pinku added: “Massive honour to work with Hot Chip as they’re huge legends within the electronic world. Talk Show have shared an energetic new song called ‘Leather’, taken from upcoming EP ‘Touch The Ground’.The London quartet’s new EP is set to come out on September 23 via Missing Piece, and is produced by Hot Chip duo Joe Goddard and Al Doyle.Speaking about the new track, frontman Harrison Swann said: “[Drummer] Chloe [MacGregor] took the lead on this one bringing a big breakbeat style drum part, and we just ran with it.“Vocally it felt natural to sit back and let the other parts sit more at the front. With the sharp guitar and heavy bass lines, we didn’t wanna compete with each other, so it helped having small repeating phrases, fitting in the gaps. We were trying to build an atmosphere, something dynamic, rather than tell a story.”Swann added: “We wanted something that had a bit of bite to it, that was really gonna show what we’d actually been listening to for inspiration.

Hot Chip have announced that they will release their eight studio album, ‘Freakout/Release’, this summer, and have also shared new single ‘Down’.Having been kept separate by the pandemic, once the group found themselves back together they began throwing down ideas “in a natural way, without too much discussion or a grand plan”, says Joe Goddard. “We were living through a period where it was very easy to feel like people were losing control of their lives in different ways.

Hot Chip have announced details of their new album ‘Freakout/Release’ – you can hear their new single ‘Down’ below.The forthcoming record will be the follow-up to the five-piece’s ‘A Bath Full Of Ecstasy’, which was released back in June 2019.Hot Chip’s eighth studio album ‘Freakout/Release’ will be released on August 19 via Domino. Written and recorded in the band’s Relax & Enjoy studio in east London, the making of the album was particularly inspired by the band’s regular live cover of Beastie Boys’ ‘Sabotage’.“The idea of being out of control is always there in dance music, in a positive sense,” Hot Chip’s Al Doyle said in a press release in relation to the cover’s influence on the new album, with frontman Alexis Taylor adding: “By the time we were able to be back together, we were turning on a tap and having a lot of ideas being poured out quite quickly.”In regards to the lyrical themes of ‘Freakout/Release’, Joe Goddard said: “We were living through a period where it was very easy to feel like people were losing control of their lives in different ways. Hot Chip’s Joe Goddard has teamed up with New York singer-songwriter Amy Douglas to form the new group Hard Feelings.The duo came together after Goddard reached out to Douglas on Twitter, tweeting at her: “Amy, can we make a thing?”Now, the pair have shared their debut single as Hard Feelings, titled ‘Holding On Too Long’, via Domino Records.
