That is, in effect, the story behind the making of the documentary “Superpower,” a gripping cinematic portrait of Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky on the eve of Russian president Vladimir Putin’s military invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.  Co-directed by Penn and Aaron Kaufman, who helmed the 2021 documentary “Crusaders: Ex-Jehovah’s Witnesses Speak Out,” “Superpower” bows Feb. 17, out of competition, as a Berlinale Special Gala at the Berlin Film Festival. Fifth Season and Vice Studios are behind the film, with Fifth Season selling worldwide rights. “Superpower” was not conceived as a war story. Rather, Penn and Kaufman, as well as producer Billy Smith, endeavored to chart the trajectory of Zelensky’s unusual career trajectory — from actor-comedian-producer playing a history teacher elected as Ukraine’s president in the satirical TV series “Servant of the People,” to a rising political star elected as the real-life president of Ukraine in 2019. The intent was to relay a tale about an everyman — in Zelensky’s case, a Ukrainian, Russian-speaking Jew born under Soviet rule in the late 1970s — who finds himself at the helm of a fledgling democratic nation burning to embrace freedom. A Ukrainian president elected on an anti-corruption platform who, very soon post-election, finds himself in the crosshairs of an American president’s impeachment. 

Graceland, the upstairs was off-limits except for an invite from Elvis Presley himself. Even to this day, tours of the mansion - which have been on-going for 40 years - do not include The King's bedroom and the bathroom where he died. Nevertheless, Elvis' cousin Billy Smith has described the layout of the star's private haven.

The 42-year-old spent his final day in the early hours of that morning being the night owl that he was. Following a dentist's appointment in Memphis, Elvis drove back to Graceland around midnight in his 1973 Stutz Blackhawk III.

Howard Hughes-like, the star would spend much of his finals months hidden away in his bedroom upstairs at Graceland, buried in his spiritualism books and paranoia.

Elvis Presley loved Christmas. The King wouldn't hold back on decorating his Graceland mansion, with lights and Christmas trees staying up until his birthday on January 8.

Elvis Presley suddenly died of a heart attack at the age of just 42. Two days later, around 80,000 people lined the streets on the short journey from Graceland to Forest Hill Cemetery where he would be buried next to his mother.

The Ninth Circuit appeals court in the US has declined to overturn a judgement in a lower court that dismissed a song-theft claim against The Weeknd by British songwriters Brian Clover, Scott McCulloch and Billy Smith. The Weeknd – real name Abel Tesfaye – was accused of ripping off the trio’s song ‘I Need To Love’ on his 2016 track ‘A Lonely Night’.The British songwriters theorised that The Weeknd and his creative collaborators had got access to their earlier song via Universal Music Publishing.
