EASTENDERS legend Anita Dobson is set to make her acting comeback as she joins another BBC show. The star is best known her role as Angie Watts in the London based serial drama. The BBC has announced that Anita, 73, has joined the cast of Doctor Who in a new mystery role.

The 73-year-old actress - who is best known for her role as Angie Watts in 'EastEnders' in the 1980s - will appear in a Christmas special of the series, which serves as a prequel to the events of Charles Dickens' 'Oliver Twist', but she has remained tight-lipped about her character. She said: "My next big role is in 'Dodger' in the Christmas special so that's quite nice.

The BBC is set to broadcast a special episode of its EastEnders spin-off, which focuses on the programme's female publicans.
