A familiar face made a surprise return, leaving viewers overjoyed. The hour-long special focused on the fallout from a devastating explosion, with several residents of Walford trapped inside the pub and another character's death confirmed in gripping scenes.
Sharon Watts found herself fighting for her life under debris, unable to move. In her moments of drifting consciousness following the blast, she envisioned her mother, Angie Watts (Anita Dobson), who could make her feel safe.
As Sharon teetered on the edge of death, she looked up to see Angie smiling down at her. "You're not giving up on us are you Sharon," Angie inquired, with Sharon weakly responding: "Mum". "Hello darling, I've missed you so much," Angie said, as Sharon admitted feeling cold.
