One of the Northern Quarter's best known bars has announced its shock closure. Black Dog Ballroom, based on Church Street in the corner of the iconic Afflecks building, has had its signs and entrance boarded up this week.
Its website has confirmed the closure with a large message saying: "Black Dog Ballroom is now closed". The basement club was launched in Manchester back in 2009 by bar entrepreneurs Ross Mackenzie and Jobe Ferguson and it became a mainstay of Northern Quarter bar culture.
But the duo announced they were selling the business to fellow NQ bar boss TwentyTwentyTwo's Andy Haygarth and Black Dog area manager Matt Robson in 2018. Try MEN Premium now with our amazing New Year offer...
