'Miracle' Stirling identical twins overcome the odds to make Outlander debut

A pair of ‘miracle twins’ from Stirling have made their debut on the small screen as part of the smash hit series Outlander.Two-year-old identical twins Lucas and Oliver Corrieri had a troubled start to life after being born in June 2021, starting out as monochorionic monoamniotic twins (MCMA) - meaning that they shared the same placenta and amniotic sac.This is different from traditional twins who usually have their own and comes with a higher risk of potential complications such as miscarriage, stillbirth and also from cord entanglement.It makes up around one in every 60,000 twin pregnancies or about 0.1 per cent of all pregnancies.But the pair of tots have made the most of life and have now made their debut on the popular TV show after mum Kaylie responded to a random casting advert looking for identical twins to take part in a TV show.Kaylie told the Observer: “The pregnancy came with a high risk and I had to deliver at 32 weeks; it was quite stressful and they were in neo-natal for five weeks after the birth.“They were on feeding tubes and one of the boys had to have a simple operation but they’ve just turned two there in June.“I know the condition can be quite dangerous because the umbilical cords can get twisted, and during the pregnancy there had to be weekly scans and the blood flow going through each cord checked.“Just before they were a year old, I saw a casting from a talent agency looking for twin boys, so I sent in a picture and they got approved for it - it was only then I found it was Outlander.”The pair made their debuts in season seven of the series playing Rodney Beardsley, the son of Lizzie Wemyss, played in the show by Caitlin O’Ryan.The family - husband Mark and four-year-old daughter April - are
