Terrified owners Sarah Adams and Declan Kemp feared the worst when five-year-old Coco darted off out of nowhere while out on a walk in the capital's Craigmillar Park area around 10pm on Thursday.
But despite a desperate search, there was no sign of the Pekingese Cross, as concerns began growing over incoming bad weather.
Calling in the help of locals - as well as search and rescue dogs - the family frantically combed the area she went missing in for two days with no luck before noticing a number of deep holes hidden by the long grass.Coco was finally found on Saturday morning and was saved from her.
