I am back in the smoke – briefly, to see my consultant. Don’t laugh, but the hernia I had sorted during the lockdown has popped out again.Without wanting to sound too man-flu-ish, I can’t help feeling a bit picked on.
Just as my business is getting going again, running at full pelt, all-hands-on-deck, the hernia I thought was fixed is playing up.
My first thought was to ignore it with so many calls on my time – like many people do – but that only increases the risk of it getting much worse.Was the cause too much lifting in the frenzy of reopening, I asked the doc?
Probably not, he replied apologetically, as he booked me in for another op. Evidently one in a thousand hernia operations goes wrong.I ended up feeling sorry for him. ‘I’m sure.
