Lee Westwood's personal tragedy as his racehorse Stay Humble dies at Musselburgh

Tributes have been paid to Stay Humble, a horse part-owned by golfer Lee Westwood. The eight-year-old fell in the closing stages of the bet365 Edinburgh National Handicap Chase at Musselburgh, won by Mighty Thunder (14-1).

In the long-distance event on ITV4, Stay Humble was in second place under Brian Hughes when he came down at the penultimate fence.

Dave Armstrong, who owned the stayer with Westwood, tweeted: "Absolutely devastating to lose Stay humble today, a kind gentleman of a horse you could only wish to own, running an absolute blinder of a race also, my heart goes out to David & Pauline who cared and loved him, Rip mate.
