Julius Jones — who has served almost 20 years on death row, even as numerous questions raised doubts about his guilt — can rest easy, after Oklahoma Gov.
Kevin Stitt commuted his death sentence only hours ahead of his planned execution Thursday. Jones, now 41, was convicted and sentenced to die for the 1999 shooting death of Paul Howell, a businessman from an affluent Oklahoma City suburb.
Jones has consistently maintained his innocence. In a thread on Twitter, reality star Kim Kardashian West thanked the governor for the commutation.
