Chelsea legend John Terry has paid tribute to Roman Abramovich after the Russian billionaire confirmed he has put the club up for sale.
Abramovich has come under the spotlight over the past week following his country’s invasion of Ukraine. The Russian billionaire first attempted to distance himself from the club by announcing on Saturday that he had handed over “stewardship” of the club to the trustees of Chelsea’s charitable foundation.
After Labour MP Chris Bryant called for him to be banned from owning the club, news broke that Abramovich was seeking bids for a sale.
Abramovich then confirmed that stance on Wednesday evening in a statement on Chelsea’s website, with reports suggesting he wants over £3billion for the club he bought in 2003.
