The press watchdog has ruled that Jeremy Clakson's opinion column was sexist towards Meghan Markle. The piece, published in The Sun newspaper, referenced how Clarkson hated the Duchess of Sussex and wanted to see her paraded through the streets naked.

The Independent Press Standards Organisation (Ipso) upheld a complaint from gender equality charity The Fawcett Society that the column was sexist.

However, the watchdog rejected complaints that the piece was inaccurate, harassed the duchess and included discriminatory references to her on the grounds of race.

It is the first time that Ipso has upheld a complaint of discrimination relating to someone's sex. It ruled that Clarkson's column was sexist as it claimed she exercised power over the Duchess of Sussex because of her sexuality.
