An 'immature and foolish' man has been jailed after attacking a police officer who wanted to know why he was out during the coronavirus lockdown.

Jack Kent, aged 20, was spotted by officers who were investigating another matter, walking alone around the Blackley area. As they attempted to approach him by shining their headlights onto him, Kent ran off, before he was quickly caught up with.

Kent, of Wilson Road, Blackley, refused to answer any questions and told officers to ‘get the f**k off me’ as they tried to restrain him.

In an attempt to get him into a police van, Kent kicked out at one of the police officers, hitting him in the leg twice. Today appearing at Manchester Magistrates court, Kent pleaded guilty to assault by beating of an
