A granddad-of-12 took his dog for a walk before feeling pain in his foot - he came home to find the foot bleeding and never imagined it would be a life-threatening condition.
Foster carer Robert Dolan, who has given a home to hundreds of young people, was diagnosed with melanoma in 2021 after the shock discovery.
The 72-year-old, from Brooklands in Trafford, had surgery to remove the lump but was then devastated to learn that the cancer had spread to his lymph nodes and lungs.
However, after immunotherapy treatment, the family was given hope as his latest scans have shown the disease has not progressed any further in his lungs.
