McDonald's restaurants in Kyiv as the chain reopens for the first time since Russia's invasion. Three McDonald's restaurants reopened today (Tuesday, September 20) for delivery, with several more in the capital and further west set to do so next week.

It is the first time that people in Ukraine have been able to get their hands on Big Macs after nearly seven months of war, and demand was clearly high. In recent weeks, a major Ukrainian counteroffensive in the north has pushed the frontline back a considerable distance, in some places right to the Russian border, thus making things slightly more safe in Kyiv.

The American fast food chain said it had decided to reopen the three Kyiv restaurants “after talks with Ukrainian officials, security specialists and suppliers”.
