Drivers will soon face a £200 fine and six points on their licence if caught using their mobile at the wheel. Police will soon be able to more easily prosecute motorists using hand-held phones while driving as the government strengthened existing driving law to further improve road safety.
It is already illegal to text or call while driving, however new laws will no go further by banning drivers from using their phones to take photos, videos, scroll through playlists or playing games, The tighter rules come as public research found 81 per cent of people supported plans to strengthen driving laws and make it easier for drivers to be prosecuted.
