Gloria Henry became a household name in the late 1950s when she landed the role of Alice Mitchell, the title character Dennis’ mother on the hit sitcom “Dennis the Menace.”After a minor movie career in the 1940s and ‘50s, Henry landed her most notable role, playing Alice Mitchell, mother of the title character in TV’s “Dennis the Menace.” She starred as the gentle, loving mother of the mischievous little boy from 1959 until the show’s cancellation in 1963.
Later, Mitchell made appearances on TV shows including “Hazel,” “Falcon Crest,” “Dallas,” “Doogie Howser, M.D.,” and “Parks and Recreation.” Her film credits include “Miss Grant Takes Richmond” (1949) with Lucille Ball (1911–1989) and “Gang War” (1958) with Charles Bronson.
