Every school and college will continue to be able to supply free sanitary products after the scheme was extended. Pupils in every primary and secondary school in England, as well as every college, have had access to the free period products since the Department for Education first announced the scheme in January 2020.
It aims to make sure girls can access period products when they are needed, reducing stigma and keeping young people attending school and college and engaged in education, when they might have otherwise missed out.
