Four self-employed people 'killed themselves over lack of government support'

A campaigner claims four people killed themselves within 72 hours of the Chancellor's latest financial statement. Anneka Hicks, the founder of ExcludedUK, claims three million people are ineligible for support under the Government's coronavirus support package.

This figure is backed up by the National Audit Office in its latest coronavirus employment support schemes report. Anneka said four members of her support group took their own lives within three days of Rishi Sunak's announcement, the Liverpool Echo reports.

She helped set up  ExcludedUK in May after it became clear that a big proportion of the workforce had been cut out of any ‘meaningful government support schemes.’ She said: “It’s heart-breaking, to be honest.
