A man who found love on First Dates has revealed he has just five years left to live. Mike Sumner made a connection with Zoe Welch on the Channel 4 show and the couple have since moved in together, but sadly the 38 year old has now revealed his incurable illness.gh Mike has Motor Neurone Disease – a condition that affects the brain and nerves.
It causes weakness that gets worse over time and there is no cure. He applied for the reality show after his condition began deteriorating and he realised he only had around five years left to live.

He recently shared of his illness since the show: "It has worsened recently, for example, I've lost a certain amount of dexterity in my left hand," he told Grimsby Live. "My balance is still a total nightmare too and my speech has also slowed down recently. "I do have bad days, but Zoe has definitely kept me going and kept me positive, especially during lockdown.” First Dates sees singletons matched up with one another on a dinner date in the hope they will make a connection and fall for one another.
