Best for: Pure tranquillity This striking mustard-coloured inn is found in the heart of heather- and gorse-covered moorland, and right on a charmingly rugged peninsula of Cornwall's Atlantic coast.
It’s so remote that twice a day a herd of cows wander past on their way to the milking shed next door, stopping traffic. A favourite with walkers, it’s between St Ives and Land’s End on the South West Coast Path.
There are seven rooms upstairs but we stayed in the eighth room, a brand new ground-floor annex with its own front door and small garden.
